WWW Wednesday

WWW Wednesday – 17/02/2021

Hey friends. I’m back with another WWW Wednesday post, where I share with you what I’m reading! WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words. All you have to do is answer these three questions:

1) What are you currently reading?

2) What did you recently finish reading?

3) What do you think you’ll read next?

1) What are you currently reading?

I am currently reading a few things, and they’re finally different things to last time! I mean, my last WWW Wednesday WAS two weeks ago, so I would hope they would be different.

Anyway, my first current physical read is Hero at the Fall by Alwyn Hamilton. I am so happy to finally be finishing up this series, and I’m so glad that Beth and I decided to buddy read it. It has been so nice revisiting the first two books, and finally reading this third one. I’m enjoying this series so much, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it ends.

My other current physical read is Bad Habits by Flynn Meaney. I’m on the blog tour for this one, so my review will be going up on Sunday. I’m about 20% in so far, and I’m not really sure how I’m feeling about it. It contains things that I love, and also things that I don’t like as much, so we will have to see how I feel when I finish it.

My current audiobook is Dangerous Remedy by Kat Dunn. This one is really surprising me so far. It’s probably not going to be a new favourite, but I am enjoying it a LOT more than I thought I would. Historical fantasy isn’t really my thing, especially not when it’s set in France, so I was not expecting to enjoy this one as much as I am. I don’t think I will carry on with the series though.

2) What did you recently finish reading?

I’ve finished a few things in the last two weeks. I feel like I’m finally getting my reading mojo back.

I have finished my rereads of Rebel of the Sands and Traitor to the Throne by Alwyn Hamilton. I’m so happy I reread these. I had forgotten everything that happened in them, to the extent that all the twists and reveals actually surprised me again, so it was definitely worth the reread. I had forgotten how much I like this series, so rereading it was definitely the right idea.

In between those two, I also, FINALLY, finished The Shadowglass by Rin Chupeco. IT WAS SO GOOD. I loved it so much. I was so attached to the world and the characters that I really didn’t want it to end, and I kind of just wanted to go back to the start of the series and read it again right away. I’m going to try and hold off for a bit, but I will definitely be doing a reread one day.

I’ve also finished two audiobooks recently. The first one is The Switch by Beth O’Leary. I loved this book so much (although not quite as much as The Flatshare) and I’m not going to lie, it really made me want to move to the Yorkshire Dales, so that is now my new life plan…

The other audiobook I have finished I actually only finished today, and it was The Red Ribbon by Lucy Adlington. I enjoyed it (well, as much as you can enjoy a book set in Auschwitz) but it wasn’t my favourite, and there were some small elements that rubbed me the wrong way. I did really love the narrator though.

3) What do you think you’ll read next?

I currently have no idea what my next audiobook will be. I tend to just see what I’m in the mood for when it’s time to start a new one. Maybe this week I will actually start Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy.

My next physical read will 1000000% be A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J Maas. I’m SUPER excited to finally read this book, although I am a bit nervous too, because it follows different characters to the original trilogy. They are characters that were in the original trilogy, but they weren’t the main characters, so I don’t know if that will affect my enjoyment. I do tend to get attached to characters.
