In December, I got my boyfriend to pick out 12 books I have to read in 2020. Keep visiting this page if you want to see my progress!
Save the Date by Morgan Matson ✔
Read: 20/01/2020 – 25/01/2020
My thoughts: I enjoyed the writing, it was quick and easy to read. I didn’t like most of the characters though, which is what brought my rating down.
Frostheart by Jamie Littler ✔
Read: 04/02/2020 – 10/02/2020
My thoughts: This book was so much fun to read, and I really loved the illustrations. I didn’t love it as much as some people do, but it was really enjoyable.
They Do It With Mirrors by Agatha Christie ✔
Read: 19/07/2020 – 19/07/2020
My thoughts: I’m actually a bit late updating this, so it’s been a while since I actually read this book, but I do remember really enjoying it. It wasn’t my favourite Miss Marple book, but I still really enjoyed it, and I really want to continue on with the series.
The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson ✔
Read: 21/04/2020 – 30/04/2020
My thoughts: I was excited and nervous going in to this, because I loved Elantris so much. It ended up being one of those books where I didn’t realise how much I was enjoying it until I was about 150-200 pages from the end. I am now very eager to read book 2.
The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee ✔
Read: 22/05/2020 – 09/06/2020
My thoughts: I had really high hopes for this one because I love book 1 so much, but this book really let me down. I didn’t hate it, I just found it so boring compared to the first one, and just generally not as good as the first one. It was a big disappointment for me.
The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty
Queen of Ruin by Tracy Banghart
The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski
Emily Eternal by M.G. Wheaton ✔
Read: 30/09/2020 – 02/10/2020
My thoughts: I DNF’d this at about 30 pages. I just wasn’t really clicking with it, and it really came across to me that the author was just assuming that everyone reading the book is stupid and wouldn’t understand sciencey things, so instead of explaining something in simple terms, he would just write “oh you wouldn’t understand” and it annoyed me.
A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell ✔
Read: 21/09/2020 – 25/09/2020
My thoughts: I buddy read this with Beth, and I think she enjoyed it more than I did. I just wasn’t really a fan. I used to love Rainbow, but I think I have grown out of her books now. It was a fun read, which is why it got 2 stars. Wayward Son has gone on my unhaul pile along with all my other Rainbow Rowell books.
Ascension by Victor Dixen
